Who am I?
Owner of Big Lick CrossFit, Director of Operations
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, CrossFit Mobility, Precision Nutrition Certified Coach
What’s my fitness story?
Growing up, I was very active in Gymnastics and Cheerleading. I dabbled with exercise in college as I gradually gained the “Freshman 15” (pounds), then I became a teacher and birthday celebration cupcakes and teacher appreciation breakfasts and buffets became my favorite part of any school day! Long story short, I put one foot in front of the other and graduated from pushing a stroller to jogging, to training for 5Ks, marathons, then CrossFit, and obstacle course races! As far as my journey to CrossFit, specifically, Doug made me do it! He made me promise that if I could finally PR my marathon time that I’d then give CrossFit a try. His primary goal was for me to fall in love with CrossFit and him to never have to endure my rigid marathon training schedules or follow me around a marathon course again!
When/Where can you find me at BLCF?
You’ll find me working out mostly with the Cougars® at 9:30AM, and at times, hopping around at different evening class times. I need to keep my schedule fluid as my family life dictates where I need to be to support them, so I’m all over the place. I’m a “first responder” for coaches and love coaching at whatever time I’m needed. You’ll find me at the box any time we’re hosting an event or activity.
Inspiration—What drives me to be a better coach:
I’m obsessed with helping people to be better than they were yesterday. I’ve seen too many people use food, alcohol and prescription drugs as a way to deal with the stress of life. Becoming physically fit has translated to being a stronger person in many ways but most importantly; emotionally and spiritually. I want that same victory for others.
Memory bank—My most rewarding moment as a BLCF coach:
I think there is a rewarding moment every day at BLCF. I couldn’t begin to choose one.
I’ve got dreams, too—My personal goals in fitness and in life are:
To stay healthy and strong till my very last day! Facing the world each day with strength and courage is my goal!
Step into my world—What you can find me doing when I am not at the box:
I am aspiring to be the BEST at my other two most important jobs: as a wife and mother of two girls.
Because I’m awesome—My Superhero Identity:
I would be “Mighty Mom” – my love for my family and my Big Lick Family has helped me take on the role of not only the mom to my immediate family, but for all of our athletes as well.
Shhh, don’t tell anyone! Something that no one else knows about me:
I’m an open book; there’s not much anyone doesn’t know about me. I used to think corn was a vegetable and fruit roll ups were a fruit. I love pizza and make it my mission to eat pie or ice cream every Saturday- But these are things most people already know. With all this said, I love to help people become students of their nutrition!
