Who am I?
Social Events & Planning Manager
Street Cred:
Certified and self-proclaimed music guru, cheeseburger enthusiast, lover of dogs and unofficial head cheerleader on staff.
What’s my fitness story?
I grew up playing sports, watching sports, loving sports. From sitting with my dad and trying to understand baseball at 4, to cheerleading and dance, to discovering my first true love: field hockey. All of my power and strength have stemmed from this sport. And, most of my injuries!
It was fate—what brought me to Big Lick CrossFit?
Doug and Traci asked us to dinner one evening to talk about joining together and starting something awesome—Big Lick CrossFit. I was anti-CrossFit until this dinner. The rest is history—this joint venture and opportunity has changed my life for the better.
When/Where can you find me at BLCF?
I am a founding member of our WolfPack®, our 5:15am weekday class. However, since having baby Jake in 2017, I’ve been a proud member of our Dream Team 5:30PM class. You can find me there most evenings.
Inspiration—What drives me to be a better coach:
I love that “aha!” moment our athletes—every new CrossFit athlete—gets when they realize their strength. When a person truly begins that transformation from timid to confident, seeing that spark in their eyes light up is what keeps me going. I am not coaching the athletes in these classes, but seeing their successes gives me something to write about and fulfills my passion for helping others.
Memory bank—My most rewarding moment as a BLCF coach:
Our first birthday party. Seeing what was once just a fun idea that was discussed over Thai food one evening transform into a haven for laughter, gains, shoulders to cry on, and witnessing so many triumphant milestones in the first 365 days has been the most rewarding. And every day thereafter has been a gift.
I’ve got dreams, too—My personal goals in fitness and in life are:
Continue to make people laugh. Whether it’s random, silly, or borderline inappropriate, I love making people smile.
Step into my world—What you can find me doing when I am not at the box:
I work in Marketing at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke and am so fortunate to have found a career I am passionate about. I am also grateful that I get to use my talents to help out at this gym and the fabulous people in it.
Because I’m awesome—My Superhero Identity:
Ultra G. Because, Michelob Ultras. And America.
Shhh, don’t tell anyone! Something that no one else knows about me:
Contrary to my writing-personality, my loud and boisterous ways in the gym, and overall social media presence, I am one of the shyest people you will ever meet. Literally… petrified to a point of panic. Just ask my mom or husband!
