Brian Shepherd

Swagger Summary:

Being the other 50% of the “Liberty Bros Duo”, Brian brings forth a kind heart and passion for power. When Brian cleans a house, he usually separates it from the foundation. He is reserved and focused on his craft. That focus and determination transfers into his coaching, where he delivers a clear and concise message. Although he was lost without Hunter for one semester, they are once again reunited and taking on the Liberty College life, one rep at a time.

What’s my fitness story?
Growing up, I played basketball. I also did the “Globo-Gym” weightlifting. The problem with the “Globo-Gym” was that I never really enjoyed it. I had to motivate myself to go to the gym and practice. So, I decided to try CrossFit with Hunter one day, and have loved it ever since. I don’t have to motivate myself anymore. I love to go to the gym and I love to interact with the people in the gym!
It was fate—what brought me to Big Lick CrossFit?
I had been doing some CrossFit somewhat on my own and decided it was time to start at an actual box. So I looked around town with Hunter to try to find one. I had about given up until I saw a bumper sticker for BLCF. So I called and tried it out for a week and it just felt like home!
When/Where can you find me at BLCF?
I typically coach/workout in the afternoon (4:30, 5:30, 6:30PM). I also like to switch it up every once in a while and work out at 9:30AM. And I’m almost always around on Saturdays!
Inspiration—What drives me to be a better coach:
I am driven to be a better coach by our athletes. I love to see people improve. I love to learn new techniques and tips that help athletes be more safe and efficient.
Memory bank—My most rewarding moment as a BLCF coach:
I love every time I get to teach someone the Snatch movement. Especially if they have never done it before.
I’ve got dreams, too—My personal goals in fitness and in life are:
My goal is to be able to do 15 unbroken muscle-ups by the end of the year. At some point within the next few years, I’d like to make it to regionals as well.
Step into my world—What you can find me doing when I am not at the box:
I like to swim and play basketball. I am also a full-time student at Liberty University.
Because I’m awesome—My Superhero Identity:
I would be “SirSquatsaLot” a la SirMixaLot. Because I, one day, want to back squat 750 pounds. But I’ll go on record and say 500 pounds, because that seems more realistic.
Shhh, don’t tell anyone! Something that no one else knows about me:
I have a deep love for the flash show and watch it every single week!
